Native Plant Studies & Inventories
Novak Environmental, Inc. has performed a wide variety of native
plant studies and inventories for hundreds of projects. Some of
our most notable include:
We use a state-of-the-art Trimble GPS unit to assist our field
staff. This allows us to obtain location information with sub-meter
(less than 3') accuracy.
Star Valley
Located in Pima County, Arizona, Star Valley is a 1,800-acre
site. Our services included native plant inventory, identification
of significant mesquites for transplant, and Pima pineapple
cactus survey.

Analysis for insect damage during mesquite transplant identification.

Temporary nursery for salvaged mesquites and cacti prior to
transplant.

Transplanted mesquites are identified in preliminary conceptual
plan for use onsite.

| Rinconado
Estates
Rinconado Estates, located in the foothills of Redington
Pass, used the "set-aside" method for NPPO compliance.
NE, Inc. surveyed and mapped over 1700 saguaros on 35 acres
- an average of 48 saguaros/acre.

Rolling terrain and many saguaros give Rinconado Estates its
dramatic character.

NE, Inc. worked with the developer to identify building
envelopes that would minimize impact to large saguaros.

Mesquite
Ranch
Novak Environmental, Inc., developed a native plant inventory
and preservation plan for the 160-acre Mesquite Ranch, located
in southeast Tucson, Arizona.

A wide variety of native plants were inventoried and preserved.

Salvaged trees were used onsite, meeting the
requirements of the Houghton Scenic Corridor Zone.

Continental
Reserve
Located in Marana, Arizona, Continental Reserve is over 600
acres in size. Our services included development of a native
plant inventory and preservation plan, and management of salvage
and transplant operations.

A temporary nursery was set up onsite to facilitate preservation.

Exceptional care was taken in salvaging and transplanting
saguaros.
